For a restore operation, you can redirect all tablespaces and databases to a different path in the destination client. Use this restore operation when the destination server has a different storage management solution (for example, automatic) from the source database, or for troubleshooting purposes. You can redirect an entire database (all tablespaces) to a new client.
The following rules apply to the Target Database Path:

For both Windows and UNIX configurations, the Target Database Path must reside on a LUN device.

The Target DB Path, Redirect Path, and the Storage Path parameter values must match each other exactly.

The software overwrites any existing destination databases that are in the Target Database Path with the source database SQLDBDIR information.
For Windows configurations, the Target Database Path must start with a drive letter followed by the folder name (for example, 'E:\folder_name').Note: If you want to restore to a new host and use the DB2 Advanced Copy Services (ACS) feature, the destination instance name and the destination database name must match the source instance name and the database name. The destination database must be in the same location as the source database.
Before You Begin

Create and configure a DB2 instance on the CommCell Console at the source and destination clients.

Verify the following requirements:

The operating system on the destination client is the same as the operating system on the source client.

The DB2 application on the destination client is the same version or a later version of the DB2 application on the source client.
-
The DB2 user has sufficient rights to restore the database.
-
The number of storage paths on the destination must be equal to or less than the number of storage paths on the source, because the Commvault software provides a source to destination mapping to restore and relocate.

The user and group IDs on the source client and destination client are the same.
-

On Windows computers, verify that no databases exist on the destination directory. If databases exist on the destination directory, then the restore operation destroys the databases because the SQLDBDIR information from the source database overwrites the destination information.
Procedure

From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers> client> DB2 > instance.
-
Right-click the backup_set, point to All Tasks, and then click Browse and Restore.
The Browse and Restore dialog box appears.

On the Time Range tab, select Latest Backup, and then click View Content.

Optional: Use non-default browse and restore options. See Browse and Restore.

From the Browse window, select the data to restore in the right pane, and then click Recover All Selected.
The Restore Options dialog box appears.

On the General tab, select the following options:

Select the Restore Data check box.

Select the Entire Database option.

From the Destination Computer list, select the destination client name.

From the Destination Instance list, select the destination instance.

To change the target database name, in the Target Database Name box, type the new name.

To change the target database location, in the Target Database Path box, type the new path.

Click Advanced.
The Advanced Restore Options dialog box appears.

If you have an automatic database, select the storage path. If you have a non-automatic database, select the redirect information.

On the Storage Path tab, compete the following steps:

Select the Storage Paths check box.

Select the existing paths in the box, and then click Delete.

To browse to the target database paths, click Browse. To manually enter the paths, click Add Paths.
Non-automatic databases
On the Redirect tab, compete the following steps:

Select the Redirect All Table Spaces/Database to check box.

To redirect the tablespaces and database, enter the path.

Optional: Recover the database after the restore. On the Recover tab, select the Recover Database check box.

If you have an automatic database, on the General tab, in the Target Database Path box, type the path that you entered on the Storage Path tab of the Advanced Restore Options dialog box.

Click OK.
